About the Role The incumbent in this role reports into whomever is leading a particular engagement (e.g. Senior Manager, Director, Partner) and will be responsible for the challenging and fast paced field of public accounting and tax. While managing tax engagements, the incumbent will oversee the work of seniors, staff and interns and work with other FML employees at all levels. The incumbent will work with valued clients, who range in size and industry, small businesses to multi-national corporations.
Responsibilities
Oversees Seniors and Staff in day-to-day activities of planning, tax work and wrap-up.
Provides orientation, training, mentoring and supervision of seniors, staff and interns.
Identifies tax risk issues and proposes solutions after research and collaboration with Engagement Partner.
Leads small to medium sized engagements with finalized document requiring little change upon review.
Takes responsibility for pre-engagement, planning, execution and final deliverables.
Reviews tax provisions, work papers and financial statements.
Completes review of tax work papers and assures audit evidence is in accordance with firm’s documentation standards.
Addresses questions on advanced technical accounting matters from team and upper-level client management
Communicates with Partner on work status and issues that may arise with client.
Conducts research and consults with team members, draws conclusions, and prepares memos based on issues
Provides the top review of returns, work papers and issues
Keeps up to date with industry laws and regulations
Other duties as required.
Candidate Requirements
CPA
Bachelor of Accounting
Five plus years of experience in public accounting.
Prior experience managing engagements and clients
Advanced knowledge in a minimum of 1-2 industry areas which the firm serves
Advanced excel and analytical skills.
Demonstrates professional demeanor, leadership and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work on multiple assignments and prioritize tasks.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team with professionals at all levels.
