Position Overview

We are currently seeking a passionate and knowledgeable candidate to join our team as a Controller. This position is best suited for someone who is looking to grow with ASI, is highly organized, has strong financial skills, and who will represent the company well with clients and the community.

 

As the Controller, you will monitor the company’s financial status, review quarterly and annual budgets, and manage accounting transactions. This position will also be actively involved with project managers to establish project schedules, budgets and forecast for capital, personnel, and non-personnel costs, invoicing, and payments. To be successful in this role, you should have in-depth knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and experience with risk management.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications (required to apply)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting
  • At Least 5 years’ experience in related position preferably an office setting
  • Strong QuickBooks experience and knowledge; Proficiency in MS Word and Excel
  • Working knowledge of national and local tax regulations and compliance reporting
  • Hands-on experience with general ledger accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Achieve budgeting goals with proper scheduling, analysis, and corrective actions
  • Experience with cash management and risk assessment
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to multitask, effectively prioritizing and executing multiple tasks
  • Ability to work with tight deadlines and under pressure
  • Must display ethical conduct
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Problem solving and innovation skills, including the ability to analyze, interpret, understand, and successfully resolve issues within the best interests of the Company
  • An ability to perform the responsibilities of the position (described below), manage the day-to-day accounting functions, and to work independently and collaboratively in an organized fashion
  • Authorized to work in the United States

 

Additional Qualifications (not required, but favorable)

  • Experience with the Engineering industry
  • History with financial project management
  • Experience with SpringAhead
  • Familiarity with Unemployment tax rates, Workers Compensation and Mileage Reimbursement
  • Familiarity with MDOT, MESC, FUTA, MAR
  • Working knowledge with handling stocks and bonuses
  • Financial Procurement and Forecasting

 

Responsibilities as Controller at ASI

·        Document, monitor and update accounting policies

·        Perform Bi-Weekly payroll function to include transaction posting, third party liaison and processing

·        Ensure all payments are completed on time (including accounts payable and bank deposits)

·        Review quarterly and annual budgets for all jobs and Company

·        Maintain internal safeguards for revenue receipts, costs, individual jobs, company budgets and actual expenditures

·        Analyze costs and profits

·        Set and track financial KPIs

·        Collecting and consolidating financial data

·        Report and issue timely on financial status/statements on a regular basis and create reports when needed

·        Manage regulatory reporting

·        Facilitate the financial and operational reporting functions of Company business and stakeholders

·        Accountability over data integrity and the functionality of accounting system

·        Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting filing system

·        Perform internal audits and assist with external audits

·        Ensure compliance with accounting, payroll, and tax regulations
