This position is responsible quarterly/annual filings of payroll tax returns to ensure accuracy and compliance for all payroll related taxes. The candidate will also be responsible for timely tax deposits being made to all State and Local jurisdictions. The candidate will research and review any tax related correspondences assigned and take necessary action to resolve both accurately and timely. The candidate will review any emails or call escalations from our employees, business partners, and jurisdictions and take necessary steps to provide exceptional customer service while resolving any issues and/or questions.
Responsibilities
Deposit federal and state liability per requirements
Balance and prepare monthly/quarterly/annual tax returns
Resolve correspondence with tax jurisdictions
Perform tax adjustments, corrections, and refunds as needed
Research of existing State & Federal rules and regulations and apply to daily work
Research and resolve outstanding Payroll Tax postings in G/L
Process State unemployment and withholding registrations
Provide support for Federal, State and Local tax audits
Drive process improvements and automation
Provide excellent customer service on Payroll tax issues to internal and external customers
Required Qualification
Associate or Bachelor’s in Acctg./Finance, 3+ years
Interacts and resolves issues with honesty & integrity
Demonstrated ability to understand and apply payroll policies and procedures
Proven experience in Payroll
Basic understanding of accounting principles, payroll taxes and/or government payroll regulations
Demonstrated strong partnering skills
Demonstrate problem solving skills, as well as continuous improvement process skills
Demonstrated strong analytical skills
Demonstrated computer efficiency in Word, Excel, database applications and a Windows environment
Ability to be flexible with work schedule, including nights and weekends
Ability to handle high volume of work in a deadline driven environment
Demonstrated follow through abilities and issue ownership
Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information
