Position Summary
The Accounting Manager at WellSpace Health manages and supervises financial and accounting operations to ensure financial health and FQHC-specific regulations compliance. This role involves maintaining accurate financial records, budget management, financial analysis, and working collaboratively with various departments to support the mission of providing quality healthcare services to underserved communities.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. An MBA or CPA certification is a plus.
5 – 7 years of accounting experience, preferably in a healthcare setting, with a strong understanding of FQHC regulations.
Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience required.
Proficiency in accounting software and financial management tools.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
Knowledge of healthcare billing, reimbursement, and grant management is a plus.
Essential Responsibilities
Oversee all aspects of revenue, such as patient revenue, cash receipts and grants/contracts.
Assist in the preparation of budgets, create ad hoc reports, and conduct financial analyses.
Monitor and manage cash flow, revenue and expenditures.
Manage the preparation of cost reports.
Aid in the annual financial audits, grants/contracts audits, and audits from the State of California and other government agencies.
Provide grant financial analysis and support for program managers/directors to control costs and optimize financial resources.
Identify and implement improvements in financial systems, processes, and policies and procedures.
Prepare and review grant financial statements and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Assist in preparing grant applications and reporting to government and non-government agencies.
Lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance and support.
Conduct regular performance evaluations and ensure staff development.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations and FQHC requirements.
Ensure the adoption of best practices in financial management.
Collaborate with accounting team members and other departments’ managers/directors.
Ensure compliance with accounting standards and financial regulations.
Maintain accurate financial records and ledgers.
Other duties as assigned by the Controller.

The employee may experience a number of unpleasant sensory demands associated with the client’s use of alcohol and drugs, and the lack of personal care. The employee may also be exposed to bodily fluids (blood, urine) and hazardous chemicals.
